Michael Campbell
Lecturer, Kyoto University
In my teaching I aim to create a safe and welcoming environment in which all students feel able to participate fully. I believe that the classroom is a place where difficult or challenging thoughts and feelings can be broached, where disagreement can be depersonalized, and where enquiry can proceed in an atmosphere of mutual respect and the celebration of diversity.
I acknowledge my various and substantial privileges and believe it is my responsibility to use my influence to amplify the voices of people from oppressed or marginalized groups. I aspire to work towards a more just and equitable world in which all people can live free from oppression and domination and with the material bases for self-respect.
